About Password Generator

Strong passwords are long and unpredictable rather than merely complicated. This generator uses your browser's cryptographic random number source, guarantees at least one character from every selected set, and reports entropy in bits so you can judge real strength rather than guess.

How to use

  1. Choose a length — 16 characters or more is recommended.
  2. Select which character types to include.
  3. Optionally exclude look-alike characters such as l, I, 1, O and 0.
  4. Copy the generated password straight into your password manager.

Frequently asked questions

What is entropy and why does it matter?

Entropy measures how many guesses an attacker needs, expressed in bits. Each extra bit doubles the work. Below about 56 bits is weak, 80 bits is reasonable, and 128 bits or more is very strong.

Are these passwords sent anywhere?

No. Generation happens entirely in your browser using the Web Crypto API, and nothing is transmitted or logged.

Is length or complexity more important?

Length. Adding characters increases entropy faster than adding symbol types, which is why a long passphrase can beat a short string of mixed symbols.
